Mother's Day Hodgepodge...

This Sweet Pea household thought we'd bring you a little conglomeration of a post on this fine Mother's Day to recap the last part of our week. Here goes nothing...

Sassy spent much of Wednesday evening enjoying the "ins and outs" of her new water table err... sand and water table that we have conveniently left the sand out of at until further notice (well, until any notice, really)...

Meanwhile, Little A continues to have the most striking blue eyes that I don't think I could even edit to make any more blue or any more striking, even if I tried...

Sassy discovered a little friend just outside the basement window. She was pretty fascinated by watching him sit there and move his neck in and out. We'll have to have Daddy check and make sure that he can escape if he wants to, so that he can get food. We would hate to have him stuck down in the window well! Please ignore how dirty our window appears to be- I assure you, most of that is from the outside, and you can be sure how often we get down into those egress window wells to clean...

Little A has a terrible little infection in the fold of her neck. She has has skin irritation there before, and even a slight yeast infection once, but this is like nothing I have ever seen before. She was checked out by the pediatrician last Thursday to be sure it wasn't anything too serious, and he thinks it is just a bad yeast infection, but we may be making a trip back tomorrow for lack of improvement with the oral anti fungal medication. Yes. It is always something around here. Little A did not enjoy the Domeboro Solution soak very much...

But Sassy was all geared up in her doctor suit so that she could help to care for Little A. She was determined to "give her a doctor".

Oh, I finally took a picture of this really neat bowl I bought at a garage sale last weekend for 50 cents. It was made in Japan. Do you think it is an ashtray because of the little circles on the sides? I love the color combination of the blue and teal and orange. Is it wrong for me to want to redecorate my entire kitchen around this bowl?

Here is a cute picture of Sassy being a silly goose outside on Thursday. Sassy had a big day Thursday- she had a preschool screening by the school district, and she scored very well, despite being on the extremely young end of the spectrum. Way to go, Sassy!

I happened to be putting away some of the girls clothes on Thursday, and I thought to myself that Sassy seemed to have an exorbitant amount of panties. I decided to dig them all out of her drawer and count them. You will never believe how many pairs I counted... 42 pairs!! That's not including the pair she was wearing and the probable 2 or 3 pairs we would find in some other pile of laundry, dirty or otherwise. Wow!

Sassy just had to show off her blue toes. She keeps telling me she has blue toes just like Shrek. Last I checked, Shrek didn't have blue toes, but I would just hate to burst her bubble, so I just smile and nod!

Here is Sassy and Tyler getting ready to leave for her preschool family picnic. I felt so bad because Little A and I were unable to attend. Little A was super cranky because of her neck, and I was starting to feel really under the weather. Luckily, I made the call to stay home, considering I took a turn for the worse later that night. I also felt a little sheepish sending a package of Oreos as our "dessert", but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Sassy was really excited to go...

Oh, and have I mentioned before that Sassy has some pretty fabulous blue eyes, too?

So, long story short, I became extremely feverish and miserable Thursday night, only to wake up Friday morning feeling like death warmed over. My throat was so swollen that the insides were touching. Ty had to stay home from work, and I crawled my way into the doctors office, where I learned I had an insane white count and a nasty case of strep throat. Yeah. After a penicillin injection and orders to return Monday for a repeat CBC, I spent the remainder of the weekend in bed. Fun times. Just how I had envisioned my Mother's Day weekend. Tyler and the girls made nice paintings on my cards, and gifted me with a mani/pedi certificate, as well as some flowers from the park and the flower bush out front. I am a lucky mommy!

Oh, two last things...

Sassy was frustrated about something or other this afternoon, ans she put her little hands to her sides and turned and told me very seriously, "I just can't do this anymore!" What a drama queen!

Since I have been sick in bed, Tyler has been bringing in the mail and any magazines that arrive so that I can read them. Well, I ventured out of the bedroom earlier and noticed that a copy of Martha Stewart Living was sitting on the counter top. Remembering that I had subscribed to that a while back, I thought it was strange that I was just receiving the magazine. I asked Tyler why he hadn't brought that one back to me, and he asked, "Oh, you want to see those?" "Those," I said... "What do you mean those?" "Well," he said, "I've been keeping them. I thought that subscription was for me." Seriously? Why would I get you a Martha Stewart Living subscription, Ty??

Can you please post Tyler's answer to the Martha Mag question?

Two things: 1, I hate sand too. Like, HATE SAND. 2, I was sick on Mother's Day too.

Sorry to hear that you were sick today, hope you feel better soon! I'm also curious about what the answer was to the Martha Mag. question. That is too funny!

HA! So, what did he say? Did he seriously think that was for a mag for him?
Hope you are feeling better!

Well, Heath gave me the first issue of the Martha mag because it had things on gardening and cooking. We all know Heath doesn't touch dirt, and I'm a much much better cook :). So, the mag alligns more closely with my interests than hers.
