Mid-Week Madness & MckLinky

Hey, peeps! It's been while, huh? I feel like we have been so BUSY this week, and we will continue to be on the go until we leave for vacation Friday!

Well, we survived Birthday Party Bonanza 2009, aka 2 lovely birthday parties in a row for Sassy's friends A and E. The first was a backyard birthday with kiddie pools, sprinklers, a swing set, fruit, yogurt, juice, and cupcakes! A loves The Little Mermaid, so we brought the cutest little mermaid cookbook I have ever seen, along with a couple of Gap sundresses that we found! As for E, his party included a giant bounce house... Sassy's favorite... and a BBQ dinner. Yum! I have a hard time shopping for birthday gifts for little boys. Really, I do. I want to gravitate towards Barbies or princesses or dresses. E's mom said he was into water guns and Nerf stuff. We ended up with a dragon water squirter that made sound and had light-up red eyes. Creepy, but cool.

Sunday, Tyler finished painting Monica's house, so the girls and I had a Mommy-Daughter Day. We went to Bradley Fair and had lunch at Jason's Deli. We bought a few summer transition outfits for Sassy from The Gap, and then we went to the fountain. Borders was our next stop, and we rounded out our day with a trip to Dillon's Marketplace for my meal swap ingredients. Here are some photo highlights:

Monday, the girls I went went to the Bel Aire fire station for a fire safety tour. The kids had a great time watching a fire safety DVD and reviewing the key points with a couple of firemen. One of the guys got into full gear, including the "scary" oxygen mask, and talked to the kids to encourage them not to be afraid. After, we got to see several trucks and they turned on the water for the kids to play in. Sassy was really scared, and she refused to go in the water in her clothes. Ah, well... it was a nice time.

Here's Sassy, pre-firehouse. No, she didn't hurt her lip. And, she didn't, ahem, eat a red starburst at 9:00 in the morning, either:

She totally rocked out the side-ponytail:

Little A couldn't watch the presentation... she was too busy taking phone calls for the station:

Firemen are our friends!

Sassy, hamming it up:

I finally convinced her to go up on the truck:

Oh, P.S.- don't plan a trip to lunch and Sam's Club after a firehouse tour. NOT a good idea. For that matter, don't plan a trip to Sam's Club after anything...

Sassy started VBS this week. She goes Monday-Thursday evenings, and she has loved it so far! They get to do fun things like jump in the biggest.bouncehouse.EVER and play in the sand and eat cotton candy! She was on Cloud 9 last night when we picked her up!

While Sassy enjoyed VBS last night, Tyler and I had some one-on-one time with Little A at our Parents As Teachers open playgroup. She enjoyed climbing through the tunnels best!

Last, I thought I'd spread some MckLinky News:

There’s a great new “linky” service available and I wanted to let you know about it. It’s called MckLinky – http://mcklinky.com/. After realizing the need for a new, reliable linky capability, Brent Riggs and MckMama got together to create a free, easy to use linky service for all their blog friends.
