Up Close and Personal...

Am I the only one who is completely fascinated by animals? Do you all remember my little blip on elephants?

Well, I'll tell you... there's another species that completely blows my mind...

...How cool is the giraffe?

No, really.

We visited Tanganyika yesterday, and there was one giraffe who was feeling extra friendly (or extra hungry, maybe). We've never gotten to see them so close before.

Really close.

Look at how long and skinny his neck is. Don't you just wonder what their musculature and vertebral structure must be like in order to support their own head??

I do. I'm a nerd like that.

Anyway, the kids had fun watching them for a while. Look at this one bend down to eat. Doesn't that look like a lot of work? Can you imagine having to go through that much work... just to eat? Must be how they keep their figure...

Their posture is so awkward, but they have such a beautiful presence. Oh, and their eyes are so big!

OK, OK... I will stop. Enough is enough. I can only reveal so much of my awesome curiosity at one time, for the sake of you readers...

In parting, giraffe... you rock my socks!

I absolutely love the giraffs. Did you see my post about the zoo in Salina?

Honestly...I like them too! They seem so doscile. You never hear "giraffe eats woman's arm" or "giraffe slays 100 with his own hands!" (hands? hooves?)

Did you giraffes have the same amount of vertebrae in their back as humans??? Crazy. Animals fascinate me too :) Cute post.
