Dirty Acorns...

The other day, Sassy was swinging in a swing at the playground. She was swinging away- up, down, up, down, up down...

All of a sudden, she came crashing out of the swing, landing on her hands and knees. I run to her immediately, making sure she is okay.

Sassy is very upset, with tears rolling down her cheeks. I spend time checking her hands and knees and other places for injury. Meanwhile, she is scurrying around the ground like a little chipmunk, gathering things in between sobs.

I look to see what she is doing, and realize she is picking up acorns, one by one, that fell out of her dress pockets during the big fall.

After she gathers each and every acorn, she gets even more upset.

"What's wrong, sweetie," I ask her as I look at her little scraped up hands and knees. "Does something hurt you?"

"No," she sobs. "But my acorns are all dirty and they aren't even pretty anymore," she cries.

I give her a great big hug and tell her that all will be well, dirty acorns and all.

I'm so glad to see where her priorities lie...

It always amazes me the things kids think of. We as mom's think...are they hurt and yet she was worried about her acorns!
