Practice Makes Perfect...

Little A is due for her third hearing evaluation in early May. The first two have been a bit concerning, though strewn with smallish bits of reassurance, but overall inconclusive.

Not exactly ideal, but we roll with the punches.

What needs to happen is this:

Little A needs to become the master cooperator when it comes to wearing the headphones during testing. So, we've resorted to very high tech measures...

At our last visit, we were sent home with a pair of the headphones and told to get her used to them...

Oh. Okay. Perfect.

So, what have we been doing, you ask??

Why, playing the headphone game, of course.

It goes a little something like this:

Daddy pulls out the headphones, holds them, talks about them, and tries to get Little A to touch them...

...Next, it's Daddy's turn to try them on...

...Then, Little A "gets" to take a turn...

...We are up to approximately 12.39 seconds of Little A tolerating them...

...Only 59 minutes and 47.61 seconds to build up to...

Wish us luck!

If you find some technique to get a toddler to sit still and follow directions for one whole hour, you will be an instant millionaire.

Wow, good luck with that! Something that works for Ethan is to put in his one and only Elmo DVD into my computer and let him watch it. His headphones are actually my husbands so they're kinda big but he tolerates them. But for an hour?? No way. I hope she gets better with them though!

I was gonna suggest the laptop on a site like kneebouncers. Connor loves doing that while he does breathing treatments...but I'm not sure that would last an hour! Good luck hon!
