Welcome Little Stranger...

This one will go down in the books...

So, it was 11:21 Thursday evening, and I had just begun to doze off. I was jolted awake with this text message from Randy on my phone...

The National Baby Service has issued a Tucker watch. Kelli is having contractions. Currently 7 minutes apart.

Of course, my immediate reaction was to get excited. I was thrilled by the fact that Friday was my predicted delivery day and I was consumed with thinking I was going to "win". I shot a text back that was filled with excitement.

Then, it dawned on me.

It was 11:30 pm. On April 1st. Kelli had just been to the Dr. in the afternoon, and although she was 3 days past her due date, baby Tucker looked like he was going strong. She had zero symptoms. And, it would be just like Randy to pull one with 30 minutes left on April Fool's Day.

So, I texted him back.

If this is an April Fool's joke, I will kick your a**.

He replies Seriously. She is in the shower. After I told him that I thought he was full of it, he assured me this was no April Fools...

So, then I pondered how I could confirm these details. So, I shot a text to Kaitlin (Kelli's sister), who is away at college and I was confident that she would be awake and in the middle of another Thirsty Thursday studying fervently for her next exam. I asked her if Randy had sent her a similar text.

No dice.

Now, I knew he was full of it.

Nice try, Randall...

So, Kait and I laugh it off in our respective locations.

At 11:46 pm, Kaitlin texts me back...

It's real.

Now I'm convinced that enough time has lapsed for Randy to somehow involve Kaitlin in this devious scheme...

So, I wait it out. Surely, they will have to come clean after midnight.

Well, at 12:28 am, my aunt calls my cell phone and assures me that this is, indeed, the real deal. She and Uncle Joe were leaving their house, dropping Aunt Kathy off at Kelli and Randy's, and Uncle Joe was heading to Bloomington-Normal to pick up Kaitlin from school in hopes that they would return in time.

WOW!

Well, now my night of sleep is officially shot. So ensues a night full of texts back and forth with Randy on Kelli's progress.

2:10 AM- At the hospital. I will keep u guys posted.

2:17 AM- Dilated to 3 and contractions 3-4 minutes apart.

3:00 AM (from me)- Sassy is in bed with me, Every time my phone beeps, she kicks me in the thigh. I'm gonna have a bruise.

3:00 AM- Haha. Hope Ty gets some rest.

3:01 AM (from me)- He's already retreated to the basement... hahahaha

3:03 AM- Haha. Got the heck out of the baby watch center. Smart guy.

(I think I fell asleep for about an hour and a half)

5:21 AM (from me)- Progress? Updates?

5:22 AM- Nubain in the vein. Just waiting to hit 4cm so she can get the epidural.

...and so on.

I could go on and on, but I won't. Kelli got to about 6cm and finally got her epidural at around 9:30 am. She kept progressing, pushed for a little over an hour, and my nephew was born at 12:31 PM.

So, without further adieu, let me introduce you...
